Sam Wilson grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where his life was shaped by hardship and tragedy. His father was murdered by the Serpent Society, a crime that left Sam with a deep awareness of the cost of unchecked power and corruption. Determined to rise above these circumstances, he pursued a career in the U.S. Air Force, where his skills, discipline, and leadership quickly made him a valuable asset.

Working for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Sam’s abilities caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., who invited him to join their covert task force known as the Blackbirds. This elite group specialized in high-speed aerial infiltration using prototype mechanical wings capable of unmatched maneuverability and velocity.

As Falcon

 During a rescue mission, the Blackbirds clashed with the mad scientist Red Ghost, who had been experimenting on animals. Among the rescued creatures was a Brazilian falcon named Redwing, who had been subjected to experiments that enhanced his intelligence.

  The bond between Sam and Redwing became extraordinary — a mental link that allowed them to communicate and fight as one. This connection never diminished over time, marking Redwing as both a partner and an extension of Sam himself.

 Unbeknownst to S.H.I.E.L.D., Sam worked in his garage to develop a more advanced pair of holographic wings, faster, sharper, and more versatile than the prototypes. With these, he forged a new identity as the superhero Falcon, able to soar through the skies at incredible speeds and strike down threats from above. His emergence as Falcon marked the end of the Blackbirds — with Sam’s technology proving superior, the task force was disbanded, and its resources funneled into expanding his arsenal.

 Sam’s personal war with the Serpent Society defined much of his early missions, as he sought justice for his father’s murder. Through these battles, he crossed paths with Rachel Leighton, a former Serpent Society member who became a S.H.I.E.L.D. informant.
