WONDER MAN (Earth-7)

Simon Williams, born into wealth and fame as the son of a Hollywood tycoon, grew up in the spotlight as a child star and global cinema icon. But while chasing prestige through a demanding Oscar-bait role, an accident linked to Roxxon changed his life forever. Emerging from a coma with powers of pure ionic energy, Simon reinvented himself as Wonder Man. Though stardom eluded him, S.H.I.E.L.D. offered him a different stage — not for cameras, but for the world’s survival. Now, as part of the Secret Avengers, he balances the glamour of a showman with the duty of a true hero.

Biography

Early Life

Simon Williams was born into privilege as the son of a wealthy American mogul who owned one of the largest movie studios in the world. Before he could even speak, Simon was thrust in front of cameras, becoming a poster baby and successful child actor.

His career skyrocketed, eventually taking him into international stardom, including a lucrative run in Bollywood, where he became one of the most acclaimed crossover stars. Despite fame and fortune, Simon longed for artistic recognition. He sought validation not through box office numbers but through critical acclaim.

Simon’s Indian heritage comes from his late mother—something his brother, Eric Williams, prefers to keep buried. As he phenotypically resembles a white man and chose to live in the United States for most of his life, Eric became an adherent of the skinhead movement, aligning himself with white supremacist ideology and severing all ties with his family.

The Dream Role

Simon’s chance came when he was cast in a demanding biopic of a Nobel Prize–winning physicist, a role requiring intense preparation and realism. Dedicated to authenticity, Simon studied Stanislavski techniques and even worked anonymously as a laborer for Roxxon, a major sponsor of the film.

But tragedy struck. A catastrophic accident occurred when Simon, while experimenting with Roxxon’s equipment, caused a nuclear-powered generator to overload. The disaster destroyed half the facility, left him in a coma for weeks, and nearly ended his career. When Simon awoke, he discovered the accident had transformed his very being.

New Powers

The Roxxon incident had rewritten Simon’s body. He found himself composed of pure ionic energy. Still confused about the nature of his powers, Simon was introduced to Baron Heinrich Zemo, who claimed to have the key to suppressing them, and promissed to know more about the location of his brother Eric.

He moved into the Baron's castle in Leipzig, where he would remain under observation for the next few months. There, he met another young tenant, Wanda Maximoff, with whom he developed a crush. Zemo's real plans were to kidnap Simon and turn him into a living battery for a Hydra nuclear weapon. This would have happened if the Avengers had not found and rescued him with Wanda's help after defeating the Masters.

The new powers conquered by Zemo experiences now fulfilled Simon’s long-forgotten childhood fantasy: to be a superhero. Unfortunately, Hollywood didn’t care about it.

The accident took alway his recognition, and his passion project never even received a nomination.

As Wonder Man

Rejected by the industry that had raised him, Simon faced a choice: return to the spotlight or embrace a new identity. S.H.I.E.L.D. approached him with an offer — join a covert, non-public team where his new powers could make a difference. Though unpaid and far from the glitz of red carpets, Simon accepted. Fame would come and go, but as Wonder Man, Simon found purpose. He now stands alongside the Secret Avengers, his charisma and resilience making him both a powerhouse and a symbol of reinvention.

Death

After years of fighting alongside the Avengers as the hero Wonder Man and falling in love with the Scarlet Witch, the hero finally met his end at the hands of the automaton Ultron.

During the event known as the Age of Ultron, Wonder Man and Mockingbird were the two Avengers captured by the robot and killed to serve as the basis for his new race of synthezoids. What remained of Wonder Man was applied to the hero Vision, who bore no resemblance to his former identity.

This greatly shocked Wanda, who was ready to leave the Avengers alongside her beloved shortly after discovering she was pregnant with Simon Williams' child.
