Emil Blonsky, once a high-ranking officer working under General Ross, became the monstrous Abomination after his ambition, envy, and reckless choices led to his transformation. Unlike the Hulk, whose power is tied to rage, the Abomination embodies greed and destruction, a predator who hides in the shadows until it’s time to strike. His story is one of betrayal, failed control, and the tragic loss of his humanity.
Emil Blonsky was second-in-command in the operation that created the Gamma Bomb, the experiment that also transformed Bruce Banner into the Hulk. While General Ross oversaw the project, Blonsky played a crucial role, perhaps even more invested in the work than Ross himself. Banner, however, soon won the military’s trust and secured the lead scientific position. This fueled Blonsky’s resentment and envy. Banner’s strict adherence to safety protocols often delayed progress, frustrating Blonsky, who sought shortcuts. In an effort to remove Banner from the equation, Blonsky paid a motorcyclist to “accidentally” invade the testing site, forcing Banner to be removed from his duties.
Blonsky’s scheme backfired. The very next day, the lab was destroyed by a creature that appeared out of nowhere—the Hulk, born from Banner’s exposure to gamma radiation. The Hulk’s rampage devastated the facility and forced General Ross to assemble a military task force dedicated to hunting the monster. Meanwhile, Blonsky stayed behind, overseeing reconstruction efforts and seething with jealousy.
In his bitterness, Blonsky stumbled upon a nearly complete prototype of the original Gamma Bomb, hidden within the ruins of the project. Convinced that Banner intended to use it to end the Hulk’s existence and secure his own reputation, Blonsky ordered soldiers to destroy the device with gunfire.
But that was not Banner's real intention, as he was rebuilding the bomb with the intent of using it against the Hulk. Unfortunately, the weapon's explosion affected Emil, bringing to light his monstrous side. Unlike Banner, who retained some human control over his monstrous counterpart, Blonsky’s transformation stripped away all traces of humanity.
He became the Abomination—a grotesque creature embodying envy, greed, and destruction. Where Hulk represents rage, Blonsky became the embodiment of insatiable hunger, devouring everything around him and biding his time in the shadows until he could strike again.
