Early Life

Misty Knight served as a police officer assigned to the bomb squad, already recognized for her courage and strong sense of duty. Through a secret connection with the Black Panther movement, she received intel about a planned terrorist attack orchestrated by the Hate Monger, who had planted a bomb inside a traditional Protestant church targeting the Black community.

Acting on that information, Misty responded immediately. However, she was unable to stop the bomb in time. Instead, she made the critical decision to evacuate everyone inside the church, ensuring no lives were lost. In the final moments, she closed the doors to contain the explosion—but not before the blast engulfed her arm in flames, resulting in its loss.
