She was given paradise… and rejected it. Now, far beneath the surface, she has built a world of her own, one where no one is equal.
Clea was reborn through the Well of Souls, granted a new life among the Amazons of Themyscira, just like countless others before her. She arrived without memories, without a past, and without the burdens of the world she once came from. While the other Amazons embraced their new existence, Clea struggled to adapt. Life in Themyscira was built on equality, discipline, and shared purpose. No one ruled. No one commanded. No one stood above another.
There was an instinct within her, something deeply rooted, that told her she had once been more. Whether she had been a queen, an empress, or simply someone born into power, the feeling never left her. She did not see herself as one among many.
That belief found direction when she met Venelia, a woman from the tribe of Hestia, whose past life had been defined by servitude. Clea recognized something in her, a familiarity she could shape. Slowly, deliberately, she began to condition Venelia, pushing her back into a role of obedience.
Venelia followed her commands, carried out her wishes, and existed as something closer to a servant than a sister. For Clea, this was not cruelty. When Venelia finally resisted, when she chose to disobey, Clea reacted without restraint. In a moment of anger, she killed her.
And in doing so, she crossed a line that even Themyscira could not forgive.
Clea was not offered redemption. Instead of being sent to the Island of Transformation, she was exiled entirely, cast out from Themyscira and sent toward the world of men. It was a punishment meant to strip her of everything she had been given.
Before reaching her destination, she abandoned the ship and threw herself into the sea, choosing the unknown depths over a return to a world she rejected. There, beneath the waters surrounding Themyscira, she survived.
The ocean became her refuge, and within its depths, she discovered something she had never truly lost control. In the hidden underwater caverns, Clea encountered the merfolk and saw an opportunity to build something new.
Through force and domination, she bent them to her will, reshaping their society into one that reflected her beliefs. There were no equals in her kingdom. Only rulers and those who served.
Now known as Queen Clea, she reigns over an underwater domain built on obedience and hierarchy, far removed from the ideals of the Amazons. Her rule is absolute, her authority unquestioned.
