She built her voice on outrage, turning controversy into influence and truth into spectacle. But when the spotlight became something more so did she.
Leslie Willis, later known as Livewire, began as a rising voice in the digital underground, hosting a highly controversial podcast built on confrontation, exposure, and relentless criticism. Inspired by the tone and structure of sensationalist media, her program blended aggressive commentary with conspiratorial discussions, often targeting superheroes, government institutions, and the systems that supported them. Her style was unapologetic. She mocked figures of power, openly criticized icons like Superman, and positioned herself as someone willing to say what others would not.
This approach quickly gained traction, earning her a loyal audience drawn to her raw delivery and willingness to cross lines others avoided. Beyond entertainment, Leslie also involved herself in exposing sensitive government information, whether through leaks, speculation, or carefully constructed narratives. This blurred the line between journalism and provocation, making her increasingly influential, and increasingly dangerous.
Her transformation came during a violent electrical storm, when she was caught in a catastrophic accident involving a high-voltage energy source. Struck directly by lightning while surrounded by active electrical systems, her body did not fail, it adapted.
The surge altered her at a fundamental level, rewriting her physiology into something no longer entirely human. Her body became a living conduit of electricity, her appearance shifting as her skin turned pale and her hair took on a white and bluish tone. From that moment forward, Leslie Willis ceased to exist as she once was.
With her newfound abilities, Livewire evolved from a media personality into a meta-human force capable of manipulating and generating electricity. She can move through power lines, drain entire grids, and weaponize communication systems, turning broadcasts, signals, and infrastructure into extensions of herself.
Her beliefs did not change, only the scale at which she could act. Where once she used her voice to challenge authority, she now imposes her will through power. Broadcast hijackings, citywide blackouts, and direct confrontations with heroes became part of her methods. To her, the world has always been controlled by narratives, but now, she has the ability to take control of those narratives in real time.
Despite her instability, Livewire remains highly perceptive. She understands attention, fear, and influence, often framing her actions as statements rather than crimes. In her mind, she is not a villain, but a necessary disruption.
Her most defining confrontation came when she attempted to broadcast classified information regarding the government program known as “ATOM” from the top of a communication tower in Metropolis. Before the transmission could reach the world, Superman, aided by Black Lightning, intercepted her and brought the broadcast to an end, stopping the leak and forcing her into direct conflict at the height of her power.
