Brainiac (Earth-7)

Centuries before becoming a synthetic being that conquered species and planets, Vil Drox was just a Coluan researcher who had a fascination with the cosmos—something that others of his species never admired. Until, during an invasion by Thanagarians on the planet Colu, Drox decided to abandon everything and everyone in order to continue his research, something that would begin a journey in search of unique pieces for his collection.

Biography

Early Life

Vil Drox I was a young Coluan researcher responsible for the discovery of several stars, planets, and species. He was considered a generational milestone within Colu, as no one before him had devoted themselves so intensely to studying and discovering the universe as he did.

Drox's life, however, was not limited only to study. He eventually found love in Lysl Dox, whom he later married, and with whom he had two children: Techne and Vril Dox II.

But Drox's life would not be defined solely by discoveries and adventures. Shortly after the birth of his second child, the Thanagarians invaded the planet and the Coluan space territory, subjugating its people and using the imperial power of Thanagar to seize Colu's discoveries and natural resources.

The Beginning of the Collection

After the invasion, Vil Drox I decided to abandon his family and his homeworld, placing himself aboard a ship carrying all the Coluan knowledge he had discovered and developed. In that moment, the Collector embraced his true nature. All those years with his family and colleagues had merely been a mask for his real personality, as he had sold the information to the Thanagarians months before the invasion even began.

He did it all so that he himself could become the first piece of a collection that would only expand like roots across the entire universe

Thousands of years passed, and Drox became completely transformed. His body was altered into something so purely mechanical that it almost appeared biological, yet it bore no resemblance to the appearance he once had. It was built to withstand every possible environmental and physical condition, while also slowing his aging and delaying the inevitability of death. Yet until that moment finally reached him, he would continue conquering and collecting.
