Hello! Thanks for visiting my website!

안녕하세요! 제 웹 사이트를 방문해 주셔서 감사합니다!

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government and International Affairs, Lingnan University, Hong Kong.

My research covers state-society relations, conflict resolution, political attitudes and behaviors. My research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Comparative Politics, The China Journal, The China Quarterly, Journal of Contemporary China, and Modern China

My doctoral dissertation, entitled “sustaining contention: concession and mobilization in China,” investigates the effects of state concessions on popular contention in authoritarian regimes, and draws on a wide variety of data sources, including petition letters, policy documents, fieldwork, and archives, and a self-compiled protest event dataset.

Previously, I was a visiting fellow at the University of Vienna (2020-21) and University of California, Berkeley (2021-22), funded by the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet Ernst Mach Grant (EPU) and the China-U.S. Scholars Program (CUSP). From Aug to Dec 2022, I was a part-time lecturer in the Department of Government and International Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. In 2016, 2017 and 2023, I was a summer institute student at the National University of Singapore, Peking University, and New York University in Shanghai. I received my Ph.D of political science and MPhil of Chinese studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and BA of Asian and international studies from City University of Hong Kong.
