Franklin D. Meeks (1965-2023)
Franklin D. Meeks entered the Army Reserve on August 23, 1965, at eighteen, in Greenville, NC, beginning his 41-year military career. Over the years, he held various positions, from motor sergeant to staff sergeant. Based upon his vast experience and knowledge, on July 30, 1974, he was appointed Warrant Officer One (WO1) as an Engineer Equipment Repair Technician.
After completing 20 years of service in Army Reserve Troop Program units, Mr. Meeks entered the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Program in June 1985 as a Unit Supply Technician. He served over 23 years of warrant officer service supporting Army logistics. Exceptionally qualified, he was recognized as one of the premier experts in Supply Operations and Maintenance Operations within the Army Reserve. He was selected by name to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for all logistics-related subjects. CW5 Meeks was uniquely responsible for helping facilitate and provide oversight in the evolution and transition of Army Logistics, ensuring seamless, integrated, modular, and interactive information management and operation systems capable of supporting all Army supply and maintenance levels. CW5 Meeks served as the U.S. Army Reserve Advisor for Logistics, resourcing, and maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.
Mr. Meeks has set an example of continued service and volunteerism by seeking ways to serve the warrant officer and military communities with his time and experience. He has been associated with and/or is a current member of the following: U.S. Army Association of Quartermasters (Life Member), Hall of Fame Member of the Quartermaster Regiment, U.S. Ordnance Corps Association, and the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA). His service to USAWOA eclipsed as the National President more than 12 years before induction into the Order of the Eagle Rising Society.
