Albert S. Eggerton

Albert S. Eggerton retired from the U.S. Army in July 2005 after a distinguished 27-year career, culminating as the Pentagon's Warrant Officer Personnel Policy Integrator for Aviation.  Entering service in September 1978 as a Warrant Officer Candidate after earning his bachelor's degree, he swiftly completed flight training and became an AH-1S qualified Warrant Officer in November 1979.  His early aptitude for leadership and technical expertise led to his selection as an AH-1 Instructor Pilot (IP) with less than four years of aviation experience.

Mr. Eggerton's career spanned a wide range of assignments and aircraft, beginning with the AH-1 Cobra as both pilot and IP with D Co, 82nd CAB (1980-1983) at Ft. Bragg and 1-8 Aviation in Mainz, Germany (1983-1986).  He subsequently transitioned to the AH-64 Apache at Ft. Rucker, serving as a Pilot Night Vision System (PNVS) Surrogate IP (1986-1988) and later as a HQDA Directorate of Evaluations and Standardization SIP (1988-1993).  His overseas service continued with 1-227th AV in Hanau, Germany (1993-1996) before returning stateside to 1-3 Aviation in Savannah, GA.  He later served at Human Resources Command (HRC) as the AH-64 Career Manager and Aviation Branch Chief, Warrant Officer Division, before his final Pentagon assignment.

His numerous deployments throughout the world reflect his commitment to service.  He has held key positions including Operations Officer and Battalion Standardization Pilot.  His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), National Defense Service Medal (2BS), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (2BS), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Superior Unit Award.

Since retirement, Mr. Eggerton has remained dedicated to veterans and civic organizations.  He currently serves as the deputy for the Soldier Boards and Selections Division but is the senior policy integrator for the DMPM directorate at USARMY HQDA DCS G-1.

Mr. Eggerton also contributed to key publications on warrant officer leadership development, including "Agile & Adaptive Warrant Officer Leader Development" and a progress report on the Warrant Officer Advanced Tactical Leader Development Program.
