Robert N. (Bob) Cooper

Robert N. Cooper was born December 14, 1941, in Church Hill, Tennessee. Bob entered the Army in September 1957 and attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA, as a member of the 3rd Infantry Division, "New Marne Men." He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before starting Flight School at Fort Wolters, TX, in February 1969 and was appointed Warrant Officer One in November 1969.

Mr. Cooper was the 10th Warrant Officer to serve as the Chief of Staff of the Army Retiree Council. On active duty, he received high evaluation reports that placed him in the top percentile among his peers and was lauded by the Chiefs of Warrant Officer Branch. He retired from the U.S. Army in October 1987 with over 18 years of service as a Warrant Officer, bringing his total Active Federal Service (AFS) to over 30 years. After retirement, he worked as Assistant Director of Safety for over 15 years with the Army's flight training contract at Fort Rucker, AL. He worked on many major Warrant Officer issues while serving as a Safety Officer at the Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES), such as the High-Risk Army Aviator, Enlisted Aviator Study, and the Total Warrant Officer Study (TWOS).

Mr. Cooper has been a continuous U.S. Army Warrant Officer Association (USAWOA) member since August 1972, serving in various leadership positions. He has been a member of many other organizations, including the Reserve Officers Association (ROA), Military Officers of America Association (MOAA), Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA), Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association (VHPA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Life Legacy Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Fort Rucker Retiree Council. He is presently serving as Commander of VFW Post 6683. Bob has earned numerous DAV and VFW Awards for outstanding volunteer work. Bob has been involved with the US Army Family since 1957. "Mission Welfare of the Troops" has always been his reason for serving our great country.
