Hi! Welcome to my personal website! My name is Dyuti, and I am a second-year PhD student at the Brian Lamb School of Communication, Purdue University. I am advised by Dr. Jeremy Foote. I am also a part of Community Data Science Collective, a conglomerate of computational social scientists from the Univerisity of Washington, Purdue University, and Northwestern University with affiliates in several institutions, engaging in interdisciplinary research on HCI, Communication, HCDE, Information Science, etc.  

My areas of interest are situated along three interrelated tracks: a) the politics of online toxicity, b) the formation, maintenance, and functioning of online communities in the Global South, and c) computational communication research methods. 

In the first track, I am particularly interested in examining the role of existing social inequalities in online toxic behavior (eg. trolling, threats, doxxing, etc.) on social networking sites, and its impact on the users'  behavior. I am also curious about understanding the roles of the platforms in this context, and how local regulations impact these platforms' policies on toxic content moderation.

In the second track, I am interested in examining how online communities in the Global South form and function to overcome resource constraints or policy failures, especially in times of crisis.

In the third track, I am interested in developing and practicing mixed-method research approaches combining computational and qualitative tools to provide rich insights combined with large-scale data analysis.
