I am Dong-wook Derrick Kim (김동욱), a Ph.D. student at KAIST’s Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy (STP), studying at the intersection of biological science and philosophy, history, STS, and science policy.

My academic journey began with a degree in biological sciences at SNU, followed by several years of professional experience as a bioinformatics engineer and researcher in the biotech industry.

Leveraging this practical background in genomics, I have transitioned to studying the philosophy of science and bioethics. My goal is to analyze the ethical implications of biological research and improve how we understand scientific concepts, ranging from the classification of pandemic viruses to standards in biotechnology.

My research interests center on the philosophy of science and practical ethics, with a specific focus on the philosophy of biology and bioethics. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you are interested in my work or would like to connect!
