In Faith shares the spiritual journey of two friends. A Muslim man and a Christian woman move through circles of storytelling, revealing friction, connection, and a deeper understanding of their beliefs. Vignettes of dance, music, and spoken word weave together the performance. All are invited to listen, share, welcome the unknown, and marvel at humankind’s differing truths and experiences of reality. Conception and choreography by Nicole Martinell with collaborators Tim Nohe (composer), Jamahl Rahmaan (movement artist/choreographer), and Dr. Homayra Ziad (scholar-activist).
Pushing boundaries in Baltimore since 2011, Deep Vision Dance Company (DVDC) thrives on cultivating immersive dance experiences that engage, inspire, and connect various communities. DVDC is propelled by Founder/Artistic Director, Nicole Martinell’s passion for the creative process. Described as “absolutely breathtaking to behold” by DC Metro Theatre Arts, her choreography questions the complexity of humankind and explores the strange beauty of the world around us. Ranging from grand site works to intimate performance spaces her choreography features interdisciplinary collaborations with visual artists, musicians, videographers, scholars, and scientists. Highly active in the community, DVDC projects have included arts integration outreach programs, professional development series for artists, youth choreographic mentorship, community improvisation jams, and site-specific dance festivals.
