Jessie Benton Frémont Detached Tent #16

The Villages, Florida

Chartered October 28, 2023

Welcome to the Jessie Benton Frémont Detached Tent #16, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War!

We are a friendly and welcoming tent located in The Villages, Florida. We meet quarterly in October, January, March and May, usually on the third Saturday at 1:30pm. We have fun through social activities and participate in many service projects and outings in the community on our non-meeting months to honor our Civil War ancestors. We invite you to contact us to arrange a visit to our next meeting to get to know some wonderful ladies. We can help you with your application if you decide to join us!

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861 – 1865 is a not-for-profit organization formed to unite the daughters, granddaughters, great granddaughters, and all female direct lineal descendants of honorably discharged Union Veterans of the Civil War in promoting our principle mission which is: to perpetuate the memories of our ancestral fathers who served in the Civil War, to honor their loyalty and their unselfish sacrifices to preserve the Union, and to keep alive the history of those who participated in that heroic struggle for the maintenance of our free government.

Eligibility for membership in the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861 – 1865 (DUVCW) is based on the eligibility as formerly required for membership in the Grand Army of the Republic and shall be limited to daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters (including 2x, 3x, 4x great-granddaughters, etc.) of any generation through lineal descent only.  As stated in our National Constitutions and Bylaws, this shall never be changed.  We also offer "duv" membership to children and grandchildren ages 8-18 of current members. The minimum age for membership shall be eight years of age in DUVCW.

We invite all daughters who descend from one or more Union Veterans to honor their Veteran ancestor by applying for membership.
