Pteridaceae
Pteridaceae
There are three genera within this family:
Adiantum
Cheilanthes
Pellaea
The Maiden Hair Ferns- These ferns are perhaps the most showy of the Pteridaceae. There are only two species of this genus in Tennessee: A. capillus-veneris and A. pedatum. One good way to know you are looking at a species in this genus is that the sori are located on one edge of a leaf. This in in contrast to the other genera which have sori around the entire leaf margins ("Guide").
