As you probably know if you’re in my English class or have checked out the Panther Power Hour News Show (aka the PA Middle morning announcements), I am a somewhat above average freestyle rapper. Power Paragraph Challenge

The POWER Paragraph is PA Middle’s signature method to crush persuasive and expository writing. Mr. Dunlo has been teaching the method for a decade, but this time he’ll be the one answering the prompts.

I’ll write as many awesome paragraphs as possible in the time; leave your topic suggestions in the chat/comments on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitch.

Coffee Break

During this time, we’ll get a little caffeine in our system, but there’s a twist. We’ll be sampling Flamin’ Joe Insanely Hot Coffee, a Carolina Reaper-infused blend that has a warning label that’s several sentences long. No one is sure how this is going to turn out.

Worldwide dance-a-long to Koo Koo Kanga Roo,

featuring a special introduction by Bryan from Koo Koo Kanga Roo

Get up and dance with us! Simply put: Koo Koo Kanga Roo is fun, my students like having fun, and some of our most fun times have come while dancing to the grooves of Koo Koo Kanga Roo. And Koo Koo was awesome enough to show their support for our event by having Bryan agree to give us a special intro from his home in Minnesota. Don’t miss this.

Head and beard shaving to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation

Tune in to see Mr. Dunlo get his head shaved, Mr. Jewell shave his beard into the student-voted winning style, Mr. Arnett shave his head, and possibly even more of the folks who were originally scheduled to shave in the PA gym at this time. If you like Mr. Clean, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and/or Mr. Perry then you’ll love this.

Legend of Zelda Breathless/ Deathless Challenge

Mr. Dunlo, now possibly a pound or two lighter due to having the rat’s nest shaved off his head, will attempt one of the more unique challenges in video game speedrunning (first attempted by Enamel).

The “breathless” part of the challenge is to complete a 5k, and the “deathless” part of the challenge is to defeat the original Legend of Zelda game on Nintendo without dying, as quickly as possible. Since we have both a treadmill and a Nintendo in the Dunlo garage, I’m going to give it a go.

Bald Dunlo vs Bald Bull, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out Challenge

Since the Nintendo will be fired up, and since I’ll now be bald, I’ll attempt to defeat Bald Bull in the classic Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out game.

(Will I get to the second Bald Bull? Will I beat the whole game? Who knows. I haven’t knocked out Tyson once in the last 30 years, but there’s a first time for everything.)

Providing the kids have settled into a slumber, Mr. and Mrs. Dunlo will go one-on-one with a few more silly challenges. She thinks she’s going to win most of them. We’ll see...

Mario with Mr. and Mrs. Dunlo

To close out the day, Mr. and Mrs. Dunlo will sit down and try to beat Mario 3 on the original Nintendo. Mrs. Dunlo doesn’t like to use warp whistles, but I’ll probably grab them anyway because you never know if you’re going to want them. (She views them as shortcuts, whereas I view them as a tool to more efficiently complete the game.)

During this time, we might even switch games, we’ll still answer questions, I may even rap, who knows. Basically, we’re going to hang out for a couple of hours and hopefully celebrate the end of an awesome day.
