The Dunedin Collegiate Orchestra is a friendly community orchestra based at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
We offer a supportive environment for enthusiastic amateur musicians, with a focus on developing orchestral technique while enjoying a broad and engaging range of repertoire.
Our players include students, staff, and alumni from Dunedin tertiary education institutions and members of the wider Dunedin community.
Whether you’re rediscovering an instrument you played years ago or looking to keep your skills sharp, the DCO is a great place to make music with others.
Dean Hollebon has played violin with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra for 40-plus years and has conducting and teaching roles at Saturday Morning Music Classes and privately. He loves making music and savours every performance. He finds music expressive, transformative and immersive in its many amazing styles and forms.
The DCO performs late autumn and late spring each year at a variety of venues in Dunedin. Scroll down for details of recent concerts.
We will post confirmed dates for each concert here and on our Facebook page.
If you play an orchestral instrument at approximately Grade 6–8 level (or equivalent) and are keen to improve, connect with fellow musicians, and perform exciting repertoire, we’d love to hear from you.
Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 5.45–7.30pm, at Te Korokoro o te Tūī: Otago University's Performing Arts building, 141 Union Street East, Dunedin North.
