An unusual 'home' outing for the Champions as it was actually played at our friends and neighbours Castlehill, due to difficulties in scheduling, thanks to Bod Dylan (long story). Our thanks to them. A win may have been expected, but things rarely go as planned, and the excellent form of Liam Matheson, Perth Allegro champion, had the result on the ropes, not to mention tight endgames elsewhere. But ever dependable talisman Jacques squeezed a win from minimal material, Sven's extra pawn triumphed over James, and Captain Ed's steady draw (he called it 'dull', but it worked) brought home the points.
