Dunaire Pool is a seasonal public swimming pool located in the Dunaire neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia. We are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and are fully volunteer-run.
The pool is not county-owned —
it’s managed by neighbors, for neighbors!
We operate with an active county health department permit and meet all required public safety standards. Membership fees go directly toward ongoing maintenance and improvements that keep our pool safe, clean, and welcoming each summer.
Shallow play area for younger swimmers – The pool begins at 2ft, making it ideal for toddlers and young children while still providing deeper areas for older swimmers. Perfect for toddlers and little ones to splash safely under parental supervision.

Q: Is there a lifeguard on duty?
A: Dunaire Pool does not have a lifeguard on duty during regular operating hours. The pool operates as a swim-at-your-own-risk facility, and all children under 18 must be actively supervised by an accompanying adult at all times.
For private party rentals, a certified lifeguard can be arranged for an additional fee.
Q: What are the pool’s operating dates?
A: The pool is open seasonally from May through September each year. Hours may vary slightly depending on weather and special events.
Q: Do you offer swim lessons?
A: Yes! We offer private and group swim lessons, designed to build skills in a fun, safe, community-based setting.
Q: Can I host a party or event at the pool?
A: Absolutely! Our pavilion is available for affordable rentals for birthday parties, family gatherings, or neighborhood events. A certified lifeguard can be arranged for parties for an additional fee.
Q: Who can become a member?
A: Membership is open to families, individuals, and residents of Decatur and surrounding neighborhoods. Seasonal memberships are required to use the pool. You do not have to live directly in the Dunaire neighborhood to join!
Q: How deep is the pool?
A: The pool starts at a shallow 2-foot depth, perfect for toddlers and young children, and gradually deepens for older swimmers. There is a 9ft deep end with no diving board.
Q: Is the pool privately owned or county-run?
A: Neither! Dunaire Pool is a nonprofit, community-run facility, operated entirely by volunteers and member contributions.
Q: Are there any initiation fees?
A: No — Dunaire Pool does not charge an initiation fee. Members pay a single annual seasonal membership fee.
Guests are welcome for $5 per visit and must be accompanied by a current member at all times.
Q: What are the pool rules and safety guidelines?
A: Members swim at their own risk — there are no lifeguards on duty during regular hours. Children under 18 must always be supervised by an adult. All county health and safety regulations are followed. Emergency equipment is available on site.
Q: Can we bring pool toys?
A: Personal toys are welcome — with one rule: no items smaller than a tennis ball (dive coins, dive rings, treasure chest pieces, etc.). These items have caused serious pump damage in the past. Items found in the pool will be confiscated, and members responsible for pump damage caused by prohibited items will be billed for repair costs. Soft toys like larger balls, squish toys, and noodles are always welcome!
