For side sleepers, the Dulailt Open-Ear Bone Conduction is my top pick because its modern design balances comfort with a secure fit that won't shift when you roll over. If you prefer a classic white aesthetic without sacrificing performance, the Dulailt True Bone Conduction offers identical audio technology and battery life in a slightly different colorway.
• Dulailt Open-Ear Bone Conduction — best for active users who need the most versatile modern styling; pick this if you want the latest B56s Pro-Black-New model with a secure clip-on design for intense workouts.
• Dulailt True Bone Conduction — best for those who prefer a clean white look; pick this if you want the exact same bone conduction specs and 30-hour total playtime but favor the white finish over black.
• Dulailt Open Earbuds — best for extended listening sessions where maximum battery endurance matters; pick this if you need the longest possible runtime of 50 hours on a single charge cycle to go days between power-ups.
When I first looked at the specifications for the Dulailt Open-Ear Bone Conduction, what stood out immediately was how it handles the specific problem of wearing headphones while lying down. Most traditional earbuds are designed to sit inside the canal, which creates pressure points that become unbearable after an hour or two of side sleeping. This model uses a bone conduction approach, meaning it transmits sound directly through your cheekbones rather than pushing air into your ear canal. This fundamental difference changes everything for anyone trying to drift off to music or podcasts without feeling like their ear is being stuffed with cotton.
The physical design is built around an ear clip that sits securely on the outer rim of your ear. Because it does not enter the ear canal, there is zero internal pressure buildup. For a side sleeper, this means you can rest your head on a pillow without crushing the device against your skin or causing pain in your jaw and ear cartilage. The product information lists it as having a "Modern" style theme, which suggests a sleek profile that likely tucks away nicely under hair or a headband if you need to adjust it during the day.
Its connectivity relies on Bluetooth 5.3, which is a significant upgrade for stability. In real-world terms, this means fewer dropouts when you are moving around, whether you are walking the dog, running on a treadmill, or just tossing and turning in bed. The battery situation is robust: six hours of continuous playback from the buds alone, plus an additional 24 hours stored in the charging case. This setup ensures you can get through a full week of commutes or gym sessions without hunting for a wall outlet. The IPX4 waterproof rating also gives me confidence that sweat or sudden rain won't damage the electronics, making it a reliable companion for outdoor work or sports.

However, there is a trade-off you must accept with any bone conduction technology. Since the ear canal remains open to the environment, these headphones do not block out background noise. You will hear traffic, office chatter, or wind just as clearly as the music playing through your skull. If your goal is total immersion in a noisy room, this isn't the tool for the job. But for a side sleeper who wants to hear their alarm clock or a partner's voice while still enjoying audio, this lack of isolation is actually a safety feature, not a flaw.
The Dulailt True Bone Conduction is essentially the sibling to the black model I discussed earlier, sharing the same core DNA but distinguished by its crisp white finish. This suggests that the sound quality and transmission speed are consistent across both color options, so you aren't sacrificing performance for aesthetics. The primary appeal here is purely visual preference combined with the functional benefits of the open-ear design.
While this number might seem high for a pair of earbuds, it refers to the entire package including the charging case. The individual ear clip itself is described as lightweight, which is essential for maintaining comfort during long wear periods. If you have sensitive ears or tend to wake up with soreness from tight-fitting devices, the open-type design ensures no part of the headphone presses into your ear canal. It allows your ear to breathe, reducing the likelihood of irritation or moisture buildup that often plagues in-ear monitors.
The security of the fit is another major selling point found in the bullet points. The clip-on mechanism is engineered to stay locked in place even during vigorous movement. I imagine this translates to a sense of freedom for runners or cyclists who don't want to constantly readjust their gear. The IPX4 rating again confirms resistance to sweat and light rain, making it suitable for summer runs or rainy commutes. The included microphone ensures that calls remain clear, which is vital if you are using these for work-related tasks while commuting or exercising outdoors.
The main limitation here mirrors the first model: the open-ear architecture means no passive noise cancellation. You cannot expect to drown out a loud construction site or a busy airplane cabin. However, for the specific use case of sleeping or low-noise environments, this transparency is a benefit. It prevents the "plugged ear" sensation that can make some people feel disoriented or anxious. If you find yourself needing to be aware of your surroundings while relaxing or sleeping, this model delivers the audio experience without isolating you from the world.
The Dulailt Open Earbuds take a slightly different approach to battery management, offering a standout feature in the 50-hour average life specification. While the other models offer 30 hours total with the case, this version claims a longer duration, likely due to optimizations in its power consumption or battery chemistry. For travelers, students, or anyone who hates the ritual of daily charging, this extended runtime is a game-changer. You could theoretically use them for an entire work week without ever needing to plug in the case.
Like its siblings, this model utilizes bone conduction technology to bypass the ear canal entirely. This suggests that despite the open design, the audio fidelity aims to be comprehensive, delivering deep bass and crisp highs without relying on sealing the ear. The control method includes a remote, which adds a layer of convenience for managing volume or tracks without fumbling with a phone. This is particularly useful if you are driving or working out and need quick access to controls.
The design remains consistent with the "clip-on" form factor, ensuring that the device stays secure on your ear. The white color option matches the aesthetic of the True Bone Conduction model, providing a cohesive look for those who prefer lighter tones. The IPX4 waterproofing is present here as well, confirming durability against sweat and moisture. For side sleepers, the open-ear shape remains the key advantage, allowing you to lie on your side without discomfort. The absence of noise control features means you remain fully aware of ambient sounds, which can be comforting for light sleepers who rely on external cues.
One potential trade-off to consider is the reliance on the remote control interface. While convenient, it adds a mechanical component that could theoretically wear out faster than touch controls. The 15-ohm impedance indicates a slightly different electrical load compared to the 12-ohm models, which could result in a subtly different sound signature, perhaps slightly more efficient for the user's ears. Ultimately, this model shines for those who prioritize longevity and convenience over everything else.
We compared published specs and features across all three models, focusing on battery life, connectivity standards, and physical design attributes relevant to side sleeping. The ranking is our independent editorial opinion based on which features best serve the needs of someone trying to sleep comfortably with audio. No brand paid for placement, and we did not rely on third-party reviews or ratings. Our analysis prioritized the practical implications of the bone conduction technology and the open-ear design for this specific use case.
Yes, the open-ear design means they do not protrude into the ear canal, eliminating pressure points that cause pain when lying on your side. The clip-on fit keeps them secure without digging into your skin.
No, they do not have active noise canceling or passive isolation. They allow you to hear surrounding sounds while listening to audio, which is ideal for situational awareness and safety.
While they are marketed for adults, the comfortable, non-invasive design makes them a viable option for children who need soft audio for sleep, provided they fit the child's ear size securely.
