Course Introduction:
The Government Staff Development Program for Competition Law and Policy (GSDPC) is the centerpiece of the Capacity Building to Foster Competition Project under the loan agreement between the Republic of the Philippines and the Asian Development Bank to improve institutional capacities in implementing Republic Act No. 10667 or the Philippine Competition Act.
For the intake commencing in Academic Year 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) may nominate two (2) eligible applicants for a Masteral degree program offered in any of the 68 ADB member countries and one (I) alternate nominee.
Alternate nominees may be able to receive a scholarship grant if the primary nominee withdraws or if the other agencies are not able to fully utilize their respective allocations for this intake. Upon confirmation by the agency, alternate nominees would be prioritized in the succeeding year's intake. Further, subject to the usual screening and formal endorsement, additional GSDPC Scholarship Grant slots would be offered to beneficiary agencies with nominees who opt to pursue a degree program via online or remote learning.
Based on the results of the initial survey of capacity building needs conducted by the Project Management Unit (PMU), the DTI has identified the following priority degree programs on competition law and policy and related fields:
1. Masters in Competition Law and Economics
2. Masters in Economic Policy
3. Master's in Finance (Global Investment and Trade)
4. Master of Laws in Global Competition and Consumer Law
5. Master of Science in Competition and Regulation Economics
Cognizant of potential changes in the agency's competency needs and subject to usual screening and formal endorsement, nominees may opt to pursue other competition-related fields of advanced study such as, but not limited to: Public Administration, Public Policy, Data Science/Analytics, Innovation and Technology, etc.
