On October 12, 2024, at the mini press conference of the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), ASDS Jaypee E. Lopo discusses the MATATAG Curriculum, wherein he talks about the struggles of the newly added curriculum rises as it is affected by certain things.
In the conference, he says that there are issues such as time allotment, where both the students and the teachers struggle on time, not only on physical, but also psychological since the schoolyear came from a pandemic, where the students got used to such time. Moreover, thwe scarcity of materials, whether budget, and materials that supply the self-learning modules, are one of the many issues regarding the MATATAG Curriculum.
Besides the MATATAG Curriculum, there are also problems that could raise from DepEd themselves, like quality education where the students scored low on Pisa and National tests based on the test done this recently, the quality of the teachers, whether their loyalty to work, or their motivation to teach, and lastly, the governing department itself, where the skills of the people who work at DepEd at some times do not meet the standards.
Problems aside, ASDS Jaypee has said that there are also good effects of the curriculum, example is that the 8 subjects of elementary students has transformed into 5 subjects, filtering the best choice for easier and more decongested learning
