Normally, the Xbox controller works on any Windows PC, regardless of the hardware used. However, if you want to use the DS4 controller instead, then the procedure becomes a little bit complicated. Because Windows doesn't natively support DS4 controller. But there is a workaround you can apply to get rid of this restriction. Software is called DS4Windows and it allows you to pair your DS4 without any hassle. It is developed by Jays2Kings and it was forked from the original DS4 Tool repo. Jays2Kings has developed it further and implemented so many new features that didn't work before.

DS4Windows software replaces the old DS4 Tool. DS4Windows works by emulating Xbox controller behavior. The sent input signals are then converted into an Xbox 360 compatible format and sent to a virtual Xbox 360 controller, which in turn can be recognized and used by XInput compatible. So games detect it as an Xbox controller along with its features, while in reality, it's a DS4 controller connected to your PC.
