Have you ever wondered whether if you can play Windows games using DS4? In this guide, we'll show you how to make your DS4 controller 100% compatible with your Windows PC. The only workaround to make the DS4 work in a Windows PC is by tricking the computer into believing that it is an Xbox controller because Windows PCs have native Xbox controller support. But how to do this? and that's what the DS4Windows does. It can act as an Xbox controller so the Windows detect it as an Xbox controller but in reality, it is a DS4.

DS4Windows is a program that tricks your PC into making you believe that instead of a PS4 controller, you have connected the Xbox 360 gamepad. DS4Windows additionally allows you to reconfigure keys, create profiles, or calibrate your controllers.

How to Install DS4Windows?

DS4Windows is a simple and lightweight program. However, DS4Windows needs certain Windows components to work, such as DirectX or .NET 4.0. If you do not have them in your Windows PC right now, we recommend you to install them before going with the DS4Windows installation because it will make things easier for you.

First, you have to download DS4Windows by simply clicking on the DS4Windows.zip button. When you have it on your computer, unzip the .zip file using a program like WinRAR and you will see that there are two executable files inside. One of them is the updater of the DS4Windows and the other the DS4 Windows program itself. You can double click on the DS4Windows and program will launch.

DS4Windows Connecting

Via Bluetooth

If you are using your DS4 via Bluetooth, click on the Bluetooth icon on the desktop and select Add a Bluetooth device. On your Dualshock controller, press the middle PlayStation button and then press the share button, at the same time and hold it for a few seconds, until the controller light blinks. After doing this, your Windows PC will now recognize your DS4 controller.

Via Cable

If you are using a wired controller, then all you have to do is just connect it to your Windows PC and DS4Windows will take care of the rest. As we all know, we also can use a wireless DS4 controller in wired mode. Even though it may not seems like fun, this can come handy when you want to charge your DS4 and play the game both at the same time.

So as we discussed, in this both cases DS4Windows will make your DS4 a virtual Xbox controller so Windows recognizes it. Please note that during the game menus or in the Windows settings you will see the Xbox controller buttons instead of PlayStation buttons. You don’t have to worry about this since this is just a result of the emulation.
