Meet Dr. Wood
The 2018-2019 school year marks my 13th year in the classroom. I have taught 2nd-5th grade. I have taught two split classrooms (both 4th/5th grade) but am excited to take on the challenge of teaching 2nd and 3rd grade combined. I'm a big goofball and try to make learning and school exciting and fun.
I began my career teaching at Dickinson Elementary in the fall of 2006. I taught at Dickinson for a total of three years (with a year at Harrison Park between my first and third years of teaching). I spent a summer teaching Language Arts to incoming 7th graders at Westwood Middle in 2012. I spent 7 years teaching at Sibley Elementary. I taught 2nd-5th grades while I was teaching there. (Fun fact: I also went to school at Sibley when I was a kid and student taught there!)
On a personal note, I am married to Mr. Wood. We have three daughters, Emily (23), Bree (17) and Jill (16). Emily is in college, Bree is a junior in high school and Jill is a sophomore. We also have a super fabulously fun 3 year old grandson, Emmett. He is super spoiled because he is our only baby boy :) You'll hear all kinds of stories and see lots of his pictures at school :) (He is my favorite subject! :)
I have a bachelor's degree in English-Language Arts and Elementary Eduction as well as a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Grand Valley State University. I have a Doctor of Education in Teacher Leadership from Concordia University-Portland.
I absolutely LOVE to read. It's my favorite thing to do. I also love to write and often write short stories just for fun. I am not much of a TV watcher but I do like to play simulation games and spend time with my kids and grandson.
