I am a psychologist and postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Psychology and Healthy Longevity Center, University of Zurich, where I lead the research group "Dyadic Interactions and Healthy Aging" with an affiliated doctoral student and a master student.
My research focuses on interpersonal and emotional processes in aging. Specifically, I am interested in (1) how emotions and their regulation contribute to health and well-being across the lifespan, (2) how people regulate their emotions in social contexts (e.g., in interactions with close others) and in daily life, and (3) the role of social relationships in healthy aging. In a more recent research line, I am interested in (4) how stress and close rleationships impact cognitive aging.
With my research, I aim to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of processes that help people lead healthy and happy lives throughout the lifespan.
Methodologically, I use ambulatory assessment studies as well as laboratory-based observations of dyadic interactions. I often take a multi-method approach, examining subjective emotional experiences, behaviors, and physiology, with a particular focus on automated language analysis. I am among the lead developers of the German version of the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC): DE-LIWC2015.
