Dr. Shashwat Bhattacharya earned his B.Tech in Mechanical engineering at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, following which he worked as an engineer at Alstom India Ltd (currently GE Power India Ltd) for two years. He then completed his M.Sc. in Power Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and did his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.
Dr. Bhattacharya was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow for two years at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, for six months. Since May 2024, Dr. Bhattacharya has been working as an assistant professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi.
Dr. Bhattacharya's research interests include buoyancy-driven turbulence, magnetohydrodynamics, and computational methods in fluid dynamics. He has taught subjects like thermal and fluid machinery and engineering graphics.
