Dr. Sivaganesh Selvaraj joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU), Hong Kong as a Research Assistant Professor (Structural Engineering) in July 2023. Prior to this, Dr. Selvaraj worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under the supervision of Professor. Tak-Ming Chan and Professor. Ben Young at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong (2020-2023), and at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, India (2019-2020).  His research interests include Cold-formed Steel Structures, Experimental Testing and Design of Steel and Composite Structures, Thin-walled Steel Structures, and Retrofitting of Steel Structures.  He has published his research outcomes in top-tier SCI-indexed Q1 journals. Dr. Selvaraj received the 2023 "YDK Young Researcher Award" from the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC), c/o, American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), USA. He was also selected as the "OUTSTANDING REVIEWER" of the ASCE’s Journal of Structural Engineering by the Editorial Board for the Year 2021.

Dr. Sivaganesh Selvaraj earned his Ph.D. and M. Tech degree in Structural Engineering (Steel Structures) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, India in 2019 under the guidance of Professor. Mahendrakumar Madhavan, where he was awarded the prestigious “Prime Minister’s Doctoral Research Fellowship” (PM Fellowship) for doing industry-oriented research (2014-15). He obtained his B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from the Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi, Tamilnadu, India, in 2013 with First Class with Distinction.  Dr. Selvaraj also obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering and won the “Institute Gold Medal” for securing the first-rank position in the Department of Civil Engineering throughout the diploma programme.
