CHALAZION/INTERNAL HORDEOLUM
PATHOGENESIS
It is lipogranulomatous inflammation of meibomian glands in the tarsal plate. It is caused by blockade of openings in gland ducts.
CLINICAL FEATURES
It presents as painless lump more common in upper lid because meibomian glands are more in number in upper lid. A secondarily infected chalazion is called internal hordeolum.

COMPLICATION

Treatment options
conservative with
Hot compresses
Lid massage
Intralesional steroid (triamcinolone acetonide)
Surgical incision and curettage in unresolved cases.
