I am a Chilean–Australian Geologist with a PhD in Minerals processing, currently working as a Senior Research Fellow at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, The University of Queensland, Australia.
With a background in geology and mineral processing, my research bridges process mineralogy, mineral processing and geometallurgy. I combine advanced mineralogical characterisation, experimental investigations and computational approaches including AI to understand how ore characteristics influence rock breakage, mineral liberation and processing performance.
My work spans the development of characterisation methodologies and predictive models, as well as the integration of geometallurgical information to support better operational decisions. I am particularly interested in translating scientific understanding into practical applications that improve the efficiency and sustainability of mineral processing.
I welcome opportunities for research collaboration, industry partnerships and postgraduate supervision. For enquiries, please contact me (English or Español) at p.loismorales@uq.edu.au
