Completing a fellowship in Gynecological Oncology was integral for Dr. Paul MacKoul, MD to gain the expertise he needed to succeed in the field of surgery, given that an OBGYN focuses mainly on Obstetrics rather than surgery. GYN Oncology is the highest level of surgical training available and works towards surgically managing complex gynecological problems and cancers - a crucial foundation for those looking to “change the landscape” in any field of surgery. By completing his fellowship, Dr. MacKoul was able to gain exposure working with experienced GYN Oncologists and advance his knowledge further, ultimately taking up the role as Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Washington Hospital Center (WHC).
