Dr. Pat Rowan

I am Dr, Pat Rowan, Psy.D. 

I completed my doctoral degree at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, Georgia in August of 2025. I completed my internship in the counseling center at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. 

(For those who are not familiar with Bowling Green, Kentucky, it is the home of the Chevrolet plant where all Corvettes are manufactured. They have a nice test track where you can test drive your new Corvette if you take delivery in Bowling Green. They also have a Corvette museum with vintage Corvettes on display as well as contemporary models.)

I completed my Post Doctoral residency in the Counseling Center at The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in August of 2016. After completing my education and passing the licensure exam, I accepted a position with Hidalgo Medical Systems in Silver City, New Mexico where I practiced from January of 2017 until August of 2025.

Currently, I am establishing an online private practice to support psychotherapy clients throughout the state of New Mexico. For me, this is a coming home experience since II graduated from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1966 before enrolling at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. I completed my BS degree in Physical Science Education at Washington State. 

After an initial career in the telecommunications industry as a technical trainer where I traveled the world, I decided that I was more interested in working with people. 

I completed my MA in applied psychology at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California in 2003 before moving to Carrollton, Georgia in 2005 to be closer to my granddaughter and her parents. 

(Later, I met my husband, a Georgia native who had been born in Atlanta in the same hospital his mother had been born in years before!)

I don’t spend all my time working. When I am not working, I love to cook, play with my SLR camera, read, go to the movies, and do many of the things that many of my clients also enjoy. I also enjoy traveling, and spending time with my four grandchildren who all live in California.
