DRP's are mathematics mentorship programs, pairing undergraduate students with grad student mentors for a semester-long reading project. Typically run by graduate students with minimal faculty oversight, these allow undergrads the opportunity to learn mathematics outside of the classroom and graduate students the opportunity to mentor one-on-one. At a time when in-person communication of mathematics is increasingly important, we hope to support and spread the success of these programs!
This workshop is for both current DRP leaders, and those interested in starting, running or supporting a DRP or related program at their own institution. As well as presentations, we will have ample opportunities for structured collaboration and exchange of ideas between people involved with, or interested in DRP's. Topics include:
practical tips for running effective programs
opportunities to share and collaborate on materials (project lists, mentor guidelines, program evaluation...)
best practices for inclusivity
how DRPs and other mentorship programs can address larger needs in the mathematical community
Keynote lecture by Amanda Baker, MIT teaching and learning lab

Dates: October 17 (all day) and 18 (morning) at Tufts University
Funding is available for travel and lodging for a limited number of participants, with priority to participants who apply by Sept. 1st. General application closes Sept. 14.
