The Drowsy Dragon is a bi-annual fantasy magazine book club for grown ups. We publish twice a year, in the autumn and spring.
At its heart, the Drowsy Dragon is about faerie tales and fellowship. It is our intention that readers would hold their own “Drowsy Dragon Gathering” to discuss the stories with one friend or many, either at a tavern, café, in a living room, around a hearth, bonfire, picnic, or anywhere you most feel Warmth, Shelter, and Cheer.
We embrace C.S. Lewis’ much beloved sentiment that ‘one day, you will be old enough to read fairy tales again’ along with our own slogan of "Warmth, Shelter, Cheer." As such, we gather stories that are speculative and fantastical in nature: mystical creatures, magic, danger, and a hopeful conclusion.
Though our stories are intended for grownups, you won't find any content above a PG-13 rating (most are PG), or any stories portraying sexual violence, either.
We've curated stories that are thematic to specific times of year. Our vision is that the stories are read during the first three months after a new issue is released, and Gatherings are hosted sometime thereafter.
So, for the Autumn/Winter issue, stories would be read Oct-Dec and Gatherings would be hosted Jan-March, just in time for the next issue in April.
But of course, you can do whatever you'd like! It's your Drowsy Dragon Gathering, after all.
The Drowsy Dragon is available in multiple formats. Print copies are available for purchase from our online Marketplace, and the digital version is available through our Patreon (also in our Marketplace).
