DropScout ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension designed to assist users with AliExpress dropshipping product research, competitor tracking, order ledger management, and price analytics.
We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding user data, permissions, and third-party interactions.
Data Collection and Storage
DropScout operates entirely client-side inside your browser. We do not own, maintain, or transmit data to any external tracking servers.
• No Personal Data Collected: We do not collect, transmit, sell, or rent your personal data such as names, addresses, passwords, or payment details.
• Local Storage Only: Any information you interact with—such as saved products, tracked store domains, calculation preferences, theme choices, and locally generated invoice or ledger data—is stored strictly within your browser local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device.
• Uninstalling: Removing the DropScout extension from your browser instantly deletes all locally stored data.
Permissions and How They Are Used
DropScout requests only the permissions necessary to provide its core features:
• Host Permissions: Allows the extension to display floating product search tools on supported platforms (like AliExpress, Shopify stores, and ad spy tools) and fetch public web images when you request an image search.
• Storage: To store your shortlisted products, notes, and user settings locally on your computer.
• Tabs: To open product research and reverse-image searches in relevant browser tabs without cluttering your browser window.
• Context Menus: To provide the right-click "Search with DropScout" reverse image search option.
• ClipboardWrite: Allows you to copy product titles, generated copywriting, and supplier links with one click.
• Alarms and Notifications: To periodically check your locally tracked stores in the background and notify you if a seller launches a new item.
Affiliate Disclosure
DropScout is completely free to install and use.
To support the ongoing development, maintenance, and future updates of the extension, we may earn an affiliate commission on qualifying purchases made on AliExpress. This comes at zero extra cost to you, and product prices remain exactly the same.
Third-Party Websites
DropScout interacts with third-party platforms such as AliExpress, Google Lens, Bing, and Yandex to conduct searches that you explicitly initiate. When navigating to these external websites, you are subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. DropScout has no control over external platforms' data handling.
Children's Privacy
DropScout is an e-commerce research utility built for online store owners and is not intended for or directed towards children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
