Dr. Mrinal Kaushik has been an Associate Professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department at IIT Kharagpur since October 2020. From May 2013 to October 2020, he served as an Assistant Professor in the same department. Prior to that, he held the position of Assistant Professor at the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Pune. His professional experience also includes working as a CAE Engineer at General Motors Technical Center in Bangalore, a Project Manager at HyTech Professionals in Noida, a Research Scientist at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) at VSSC in Trivandrum, and a Senior Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services in Mumbai. Dr. Kaushik earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2012, following his M.Tech in 2003 and B.Tech in 1999, also from IIT Kanpur. His research interests focus on Jet Control and Aeroacoustics, as well as Shock-Wave/Boundary-Layer Interactions. He has published 44 articles in international journals (SCI/SCIE), 33 articles in international and national conference proceedings (SCOPUS), and has 17 patents (filed/granted). In addition to his research work, Dr. Kaushik has authored 4 textbooks for engineering students: Instrumentation and Measurements in Compressible Flows (CRC Press, Taylor & Francis, USA, 2023), Fundamentals of Gas Dynamics (Springer Nature, Singapore, 2022), Theoretical and Experimental Aerodynamics (Springer Nature, Singapore, 2019), and Essentials of Aircraft Armaments (Springer Nature, Singapore, 2016). He has also written a monograph titled Innovative Passive Control Techniques for Supersonic Jet Mixing (Lambert Academic Publishing, Saarbrücken, Germany, 2012).
