Dr. Lemma Lessa is an associate professor of Information Systems at the School of Information Science, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia; and a certified management consultant. He obtained his PhD in Information Technology (specializing in Information Systems). He has over 30 years of experience in the Ethiopian higher education system. His teaching, research, and consultancy interests are Information Systems Policy and Strategy, Digital Transformation, IT Governance, IT Project Management, and Information Systems Security Management. His postgraduate teaching includes Information Systems Security Management; Enterprise and IT Architecture; Information Systems Project and Change Management; Systems Thinking; Advanced Seminar in Information Technology; Information Systems Policy, Strategy and Governance; and more. He has authored or co-authored over fifty articles - ten journal articles, nine peer-reviewed Book chapters, and about thirty-nine peer-reviewed conference papers. In his career, he served in different administrative positions including Director for Information & Communications Technology Services at Defence University; Chief University Librarian at Defence University and Addis Ababa University; Department head and Postgraduate program coordinator at the School of Information Science, AAU; Member of Institutional Review Board (IRB) at College of Natural and Computational Sciences at AAU; Software project manager at TechSol software development PLC; and senior manager for business management solutions at CIMAC Microsoft Dynamics ERP consulting PLC. He participated in the preparation of several national and institutional policy and strategy documents including (a) National ICT in Education Policy for Ethiopia; (b) Digital Skills Country Action Plan (DSCAP) for Ethiopian higher education and TVETs; (c) Institutional e-Learning Policy Guideline for Higher Educational Institutions in Ethiopia; (d) ICT Strategic Plan for Ethiopian Higher Learning Institutions and TVETs; (e) E-Learning Policy and Guideline of Addis Ababa University; and (f) Assessment of Digital Education in Ethiopian Higher Education Institutions and Development of a Strategic Roadmap. He is a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and the current president of the Ethiopian chapter of AIS.
