Dr. Kazi Sohag is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Management, Saint Petersburg University, Russian Federation, and the Head of the Laboratory for Economic Policy and Natural Resources at Ural Federal University.
He has previously served as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the School of Commerce, University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and as an Associate Research Fellow at the Accounting Research Institute, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. Dr. Sohag is also an External Researcher at the Center of Research Excellence in Renewable Energy and Power Systems, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Sohag is a Contributing Author to the IPCC Working Group III under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In 2021, he was appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University of Merdeka Malang under Indonesia’s World Class Professor (WCP) program, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2017. Additionally, he received specialized training in Global VAR Modeling from the Czech University of Life Sciences (2019) and in Energy and Environmental CGE Modeling with GAMS from EcoMod, Singapore (2015).
According to RePEc, Dr. Sohag ranks among the top 1,000 economists worldwide and is currently the top-ranked economist in Russia, based on publications over the last ten years. He also appears among the top 2% of most influential researchers globally, according to Stanford University’s global scientist ranking.
Dr. Sohag is a regular reviewer for more than 50 high-impact international journals. His research has received over 8,600 citations with an H-index of 41. He has delivered numerous keynote speeches and invited lectures around the world and has been awarded multiple international research grants from Russia, Iran, Malaysia, Kosovo, the UAE, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia.
