During this period, he completed an MSc in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1995. During this time, he served as Director and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, from 2016 to 2018.
