Drive By Stations of the Cross

April 10, 2020

If you were unable to make the drive to pray the stations, please enjoy this video and the pictures below.

Additional images can be found on the Photographs page.

Please also see our Guestbook to hear from those who participated.

Thank you to everyone who made the journey. We estimate approximately 100 cars drove through our neighborhoods. We appreciate the many kind words we have heard in response.

God bless you all this Easter season!

During this time of the coronavirus pandemic, Christians everywhere are unable to gather together publicly with our larger faith communities to pray and worship. Catholic Christians have been unable to receive the Eucharist in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and as Holy Week begins, will not be able to participate in traditions such as receiving palms at Palm Sunday Mass and witnessing the washing of the feet during Holy Thursday Mass. The Stations of the Cross, which are usually prayed weekly in Catholic churches during Lent and often reenacted live in city streets on Good Friday, have also been publicly discontinued this year.

The Good Friday Drive By Stations of the Cross are offered by a group of Catholic families in western Chester County, PA as a different way to experience the Stations this year. We will be depicting the different stations in our front yards and invite you to journey with Jesus to the Cross, from the privacy and safety of your car.

DATE: Good Friday, April 10

TIME: 12p - 6p

If your schedule permits, please consider starting your trip later than 12 noon to avoid congestion in the neighborhoods.

Please consider these guidelines:

  • Remain in your car.

    • Refrain from touching any of the stations.

    • Please do not try to contact the homeowners by knocking on our doors.

  • If you see us outside our homes, please wave hello! But, please don't be offended if we don't come closer to chat.

  • While driving in the neighborhoods, please obey all speed limits and stay to the right of the road. Be aware of pedestrians, children at play and cyclists.

  • The majority of the homes will be on your right. Please be careful if crisscrossing to homes on the left.

  • Please do not block our neighbors' driveways.

  • Feel free to take your time praying at each station while being mindful of any others who may be waiting to do the same.

  • Please be patient with those praying ahead of you.

The LORD bless you and keep you!

The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!

The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!
