Lucid Air 517 miles, one charge.

517 miles on one Charge.

Yesterday Lucid Motors released a video on their social media claiming that their all new Lucid Air electric car will be capable of 517 miles of range on a single charge. This is a huge milestone for EVs because it out performs all of the current EVs in the market and even those that are yet to be released.

Lucid Motors said that they are going to be unveiling their first ever vehicle, the Lucid Air, on September 9, 2020. Lucid Motors is a company that is currently based in Newark, California. The company was founded in 2007 with the focus to build batteries and powertrains for other electric companies. Many of the employees at the company, formerly known as Atieva, used to work in other car companies. Two of their employees became a key part of the pivot the company took to become what we now know as Lucid Motors.

Peter Rawlinson, former VP of engineering at Tesla, became the CEO an CTO of Lucid Motors. Derek Jenkins, former lead designer at Mazda, is the current Vice President at Lucid Motors. Together these two are an integral part of the company to develop the Lucid Air. The focus of the car is to compete against Tesla's model S as a luxury sedan. Lucid Motors has a majority of foreign investors from China, and Saudi Arabia. Lucid Air began building a factory in Casa Grande, AZ that is now 70% complete. They plan to employ over 2,000 employees and be capable to produce around 20,000 units by 2020 and 130,000 units by the end of the decade. The EV market keeps growing and it is an exciting time to stay updated. Thanks for reading, stay buzzed.
