Who is Bollinger?

Bollinger

We have talked briefly of Bollinger in past episodes of Drive Bar Podcast, but we wanted to do a little more research on the company to get a better understanding on what the company is trying to accomplish and where they are in terms of production.

So there's not much information out in the web about this company but we do know some things. Robert Bollinger is the CEO and Founder of Bollinger Motors. I was not able to find a specific date when the company was founded but we can assume that it's fairly recent. Bollinger currently has two vehicles under production. Both are fully electric heavy duty vehicles producing 614 HP and 668 lb-ft of torque powered by dual motors. Their boxy designs are pretty intriguing and really makes them stand out from the rest.

Bollinger has decided to focus on heavy duty work vehicles, a market that many other manufactures of EVs have missed. They plan to build the most rugged EVs and offer them to companies as the world transitions into more sustainable vehicles. Bollinger has posted pictures of how their vehicles can function in real life scenarios.

As you can see, they are marketing the truck to service companies and the truck looks real nice in my opinion. I had my doubts about it when it came to a regular commuter truck, but as a work truck it takes a whole different life of itself. Both vehicles will be classified as commercial vehicles and will not need airbags just like other big diesel trucks. My only concern is the range of the truck, because Bollinger claims that it will have a range of 250 miles. I wonder if they took into consideration the range after all that equipment is loaded on the truck. Regardless, Bollinger will have a hard time breaking into the working market because working men really like having their diesel trucks.

Both the B1 and B2 will not be cheap vehicles by any means. The rumored starting price is somewhere in the neighborhood of $125,000. They plan to start production and deliveries in 2021. Bollinger just moved to a bigger facility in Oak Parks, Michigan. They plan to expand to 80 employees from 40. This is a really interesting company to keep an eye on and we will for sure here at Drive Bar. Thanks so much for reading, stay positive out there.
