The most recognized electric car company on planet earth, Tesla, has filed a lawsuit against the highly popular company Rivian.
Rivian is an electric car company that is set to start delivering their highly anticipated pick-up and SUV in early 2021. In the lawsuit Tesla claims that ex-employees have stolen trade secrets to take to their new employer Rivian. With electric vehicles being a novelty, the market for potential employees is very slim. Rivian has been poaching Tesla employees and allegedly encouraging the employees to retrieve and deliver as much information as possible to Rivian. Tesla mentioned at least two ex-employees from an executive level. Both employees allegedly admitted to the act, one of them sending various files to their personal Gmail only three days after accepting Rivian's offer letter. This can be damaging for Tesla because Rivian could get an advantage to things like potential hires, technology that is being developed, and most importantly pricing. If Rivian can get a hold of Tesla's finances then Rivian would be able to undercut Tesla when it comes to selling vehicles. It is reported that Rivian has hired around 2400 employees including about 170 ex-Tesla employees. We will keep you in touch on what happens with this case. Thank you for reading, stay buzzed.
