Ford entering a new era?

Jim Farley

Meet Jim Farley, a car loving and GM hating kind of guy that might just save Ford from heading to a dark place. Jim Farley is currently Ford's COO and is set to replace Jim Hackett as CEO. It is reported that Jim Farley is a muscle car loving guy that really is a Ford loyalist and maybe it's what Ford needs right now. People have been criticizing for some of its controversial decisions like the Mach-e, lack of V8 in the Bronco, and getting rid of their whole line of cars.

It doesn't look like Ford's current CEO has been satisfying the shareholders. From a car guy's perspective I can see how Ford was not heading in the path that most car buyers would like. The decision to make a crossover Mustang really shook things up in the automotive market. Many people have been let down with the release of the Bronco and not being offered with a V8 engine. Another strike with Hackett must be how long it is going to take for the Bronco to be delivered to buyers. This is probably the straw that broke the camel's back because it has been less than a week since the news broke. Hackett also failed to deliver a fully electric F150 even after confirming and showing a demo of the vehicle. The missed opportunity of the electric F150 will cause a huge chunk of marketshare for Ford since no other automaker has been able to bring an electric pickup to market. Farley is basically the complete opposite from the current CEO Hackett.

Farley has been with ford since 2007 after spending almost 20 years with Toyota and Lexus. It is reported that Farley is a huge car guy that owns a 1965 GT40 that is capable of going over 200MPH. He apparently has a huge competitive hatred against everything that has to do with GM. Farley would rather spend time in his garage than be in an office. This is great for Ford because it will push the company to lengths that we haven't seen in a while. He is set to officially become CEO on October 1, 2020. Oh, and yes, the late Chris Farley was his cousin. Thanks for reading, stay buzzed.
