On August 6, 2020 Cadillac unveiled their all new fully electric SUV. This marks a huge milestone for Cadillac because it is their first ever electric vehicle. The SUV's design is bold and very futuristic. The LYRIQ will offer a rear-wheel drive variant and a performance all-wheel drive variant. Cadillac will offer a 19kW charger for your home and 150kW public charging. The SUV will be capable of 300 miles of range based on their personal testing. The Lyriq will be equipped with GM's newly developed battery system called "Ultium" which has the skateboard design for a better center of gravity.
The LYRIQ will come with a whooping 33 inch display that will serve as the Dashboard and the infotainment all together. GM also claims that the LYRIQ will be equipped with an "Augmented Reality" heads up display. This should be interesting because we can expect it to be much better than whats currently offered with other GM model vehicles.
Another really interesting photo in the social media post from Cadillac was one of the back seat. It looks like it will come with its own infotainment screen on the armrest. Well at least the pre-production model has it and it would be really exciting if it becomes an option.
GM says that there are over 1,000 public charging stations between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Also over 500 charging stations between Washington DC and Philadelphia. It looks like GM is going strong into the EV game and it is really exciting. Surely there is more to come from GM in the next couple of years. Thanks for reading, stay buzzed.
