The relationship between sleep and neurodegenerative diseases is complex and bidirectional. Neurodegeneration can disrupt sleep-wake circuits and physiological sleep mechanisms, leading to disorders such as REM sleep behavior disorder in Parkinson’s disease. Beyond these perceptible symptoms, sleep dysfunction may also exacerbate underlying pathophysiological processes. Clinically, early identification and longitudinal tracking of sleep disturbances are crucial for patient management. From a research perspective, sleep analysis provides a unique window into brain function, reflecting physiological integrity and associated processes. I integrate multimodal approaches—including polysomnography, clinical assessment, and imaging—within multiple neurodegenerative disease cohorts in collaboration with the neurology department and the Paris Brain Institute.
