Chaos nebulae are vast clouds of formless consciousness that drift aimlessly through the Void. Elder gods are born when a piece of the nebula randomly condenses into a being with thoughts and purpose. Elder gods have no family, but loosely consider other gods who came from the same cloud to be their siblings, and have a fondness for their birth nebula like a parent, although it is not reciprocal, and too much attachment is foolish, since the nebula will soon blow away forever on the cosmic winds. Almost nothing is known about the nebulae, even by elder gods. They are as mindlessly destructive as they are creative, given that they are unaware of what's in their path and they often crash into created worlds, utterly destroying them. Elder gods must therefore closely watch the movements of the nebulae, and take measures to protect their worlds.Â
