Dr. Benjamin Ticho

Dr. Ben Ticho is a general and pediatric ophthalmologist who has been practicing in the Chicago Metropolitan area for over 30 years. He is the principal physician at Ticho Eye Associates and has been recognized in Top Doctor Chicago Magazine 2020 and 2021, as well as West Suburban Living magazine in 2014. He is board-certified and thrice re-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Ticho has educated hundreds of medical students across the country about the newest in ophthalmic treatment at conferences, symposia, and board review courses.

Dr. Ticho combines in-depth ocular anatomical knowledge with ability and over 25 years of experience in treating strabismus, cataracts, glaucoma, ptosis, dermatochalasis, and tear duct obstructions in patients. His nonsurgical interests include refractive errors, amblyopia, ocular infections, diabetic retinopathy, and retinopathy of prematurity, as well as treatment of refractive errors, amblyopia, ocular infections, diabetic retinopathy, and retinopathy of prematurity. He is especially interested in eye treatment for those with genetic abnormalities, Down syndrome, autism, learning disabilities, and other special needs.

Ben Ticho earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He subsequently completed an integrated surgical-medical internship and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Ticho completed fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, respectively, following his residency. He worked at Lurie Children's Hospital for nearly 20 years as an instructor and associate professor.
