If you want a lightweight, discreet hitch for light-duty towing on a sedan or small SUV, choose Draw-Tite 24757; if you need heavy-duty capacity for hauling boats or large campers with a Jeep Cherokee, choose REESE Towpower 44765. These two products serve fundamentally different purposes despite both being trailer hitches. One is designed to slip into the frame of a passenger car for occasional errands, while the other is built as a structural component for serious off-road and camping adventures. Understanding the gap between a Class 1 receiver and a Class 3 receiver is the only way to make the right choice for your vehicle and your specific travel needs.
• Best For Draw-Tite: Drivers of passenger cars who need to tow small utility trailers or jet skis without sacrificing fuel economy or aesthetics.
• Best For REESE: Jeep owners planning for weekend camping trips that involve heavier gear, larger boats, or travel over rough terrain where stability is critical.
The Draw-Tite 24757 is engineered specifically for the modern passenger car market. Its primary design philosophy centers on integration and discretion. When installed on compatible vehicles like the 2006 through 2010 Hyundai Sonata, this Class 1 hitch attaches directly to the vehicle's frame or bumper in a way that maintains a clean appearance. The black finish helps it blend into the undercarriage, ensuring that the hitch does not become an eyesore when not in use. This is a crucial detail for drivers who value the aesthetic lines of their sedan and do not want a bulky metal protrusion hanging behind them during daily commutes or city driving.
In terms of raw capability, the 24757 is a modest performer by industry standards, which is exactly what makes it suitable for its intended role. With a 1.25-inch square receiver tube opening, it accommodates standard Class 1 accessories. This means you can safely haul a small utility trailer carrying lawn equipment, a compact motorcycle, or perhaps a small jet ski on a light-duty trailer. However, attempting to exceed these limits would be dangerous and void any safety assurances provided by the manufacturer's engineering specifications.
You should buy this unit if your vehicle is a passenger car or a small sport utility vehicle and your towing needs are strictly limited to light loads. It is also the ideal choice if you prioritize a low profile and easy storage. The removable nature of the drawbar, pin, and clip (sold separately) allows you to keep the main structure mounted on your car while storing the actual towing bar inside your garage when you aren't using it. This reduces wind resistance and prevents damage to the hitch during winter months. Conversely, skip this product if you plan to tow anything larger than a small utility trailer, if you drive a heavy-duty truck or a Jeep, or if you require a receiver large enough to handle 2-inch accessories, which are common in the recreational towing world.

The REESE Towpower 44765 exists in a completely different league of durability and capacity. Designed specifically for the 2014 through 2023 Jeep Cherokee, this Class III hitch is a beast of a piece of equipment. It is custom-built according to strict manufacturer specifications to ensure a perfect fit, eliminating gaps or misalignments that could compromise safety. The construction relies on solid, all-welded steel, a feature that speaks directly to its ability to withstand road abuse. Unlike lighter hitches that might rely on bolted flanges or thinner gauge metals, the REESE unit undergoes rigorous fatigue and stress testing to meet and exceed V-5 and SAE J684 standards. This level of testing ensures that the hitch can handle the dynamic forces generated by heavy loads moving over bumps and potholes.
The capacity numbers here tell the real story of who this hitch is for. Tongue Weight, this unit can handle substantial cargo. WDTW. If you are planning to take your Jeep out for camping, especially for extended trips where you might be hauling a pop-up camper, a small travel trailer, or a boat, this is the hardware you need. The 2-inch square receiver opening is the industry standard for heavier towing, allowing access to a wider range of couplers and accessories designed for serious recreational use. The two-part black powder coat finish provides an extra layer of defense against rust and corrosion, which is essential for vehicles that might see off-road conditions or frequent exposure to salt and mud.
However, this increased strength comes with physical trade-offs. You must account for this added mass when considering the rear-end balance of your vehicle. Furthermore, because it is a Class III hitch, it is inherently larger and more visible than a Class 1 model. It will not hide as easily in the frame rails of a Jeep. You should choose this product if you own a Jeep Cherokee and intend to use it for genuine recreational towing, particularly for camping scenarios where reliability and load capacity are non-negotiable. If you only ever tow a bicycle rack or a tiny utility cart, this unit is overkill and may not be the most efficient use of your budget or vehicle space.
• Best for Passenger Car Integration → Draw-Tite 24757: The 24757 is explicitly designed for passenger cars like the Hyundai Sonata, whereas the REESE unit is tailored exclusively for the Jeep Cherokee.
• Best for Weight Distribution Systems → REESE Towpower 44765: Only the REESE hitch supports weight distribution setups, which are necessary for stabilizing larger, heavier trailers during long highway drives.
• Best for Aesthetics and Low Profile → Draw-Tite 24757: The smaller 1.25-inch receiver and lighter build allow for a cleaner look on sedans, making it less obtrusive when not in use.
• Best for Off-Road Durability → REESE Towpower 44765: The all-welded steel construction and rigorous stress testing make it better suited for the vibration and impact of rough terrain often encountered while camping.
• Best for Accessory Variety → REESE Towpower 44765: The 2-inch receiver opens up a much broader market of heavy-duty bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts compared to the restricted 1.25-inch opening of the Draw-Tite.
• Best for Rust Resistance → REESE Towpower 44765: While both are black, the REESE unit features a specialized two-part powder coat finish designed specifically to resist the harsh elements faced by off-road vehicles.
If I were preparing my Jeep Cherokee for a weekend camping trip, carrying a small camper or a boat, I would immediately select the REESE Towpower 44765. The inclusion of weight distribution compatibility alone makes it the superior choice for anyone taking their vehicle on a serious adventure. The robust all-welded steel construction gives me confidence that the hitch will hold firm regardless of the road conditions I encounter.
On the other hand, if I owned a Hyundai Sonata and needed to tow a small utility trailer for yard work, the Draw-Tite 24757 would be the logical, cost-effective, and aesthetically pleasing choice. But for the specific intent of camping—where reliability, safety margins, and the ability to handle varied terrain are paramount—the REESE Towpower 44765 stands out as the clear winner. It is built for the job, whereas the other is built for convenience. I recommend the REESE Towpower 44765 for anyone looking to turn their Jeep into a capable camping rig, as it provides the necessary strength and peace of mind that lighter hitches simply cannot offer.
You would need the REESE Towpower 44765 for that purpose.
The product description lists the hitch itself and a hitch plug cover, but it does not state that a ball mount, drawbar, or ball is included in the box. You will likely need to purchase those accessories separately based on your towing setup.
Based on the specifications provided, the Draw-Tite 24757 is listed for passenger cars like the Hyundai Sonata. The REESE Towpower 44765 is the custom-fit solution specifically designed for the Jeep Cherokee, so using the wrong hitch on your vehicle could result in fitment issues or safety hazards.
The additional weight of the REESE unit is a necessary trade-off for the increased towing capacity and structural integrity required for heavy loads.
